Okay… here we go. Best credit cards for no credit history. God, where do I even start?
I’m sitting here in my tiny flat in Faridabad at like 1:17 AM, January 20, 2026, eating cold Maggi straight from the pan because I’m too lazy to wash a plate, and I’m about to tell you the honest-to-God truth about how a 25-year-old with literally zero credit history managed to get approved for actual credit cards. Not fake ones. Real ones. That I still use.
Spoiler: it was messy, embarrassing, and involved way too many rejection emails that made me want to yeet my phone into the Yamuna.
Anyway.
Why Getting a Credit Card With No Credit History Feels Impossible (But Isn’t)
I moved back to India after a couple of years in the US with literally no credit history here. In the US I had student loans and one sad little secured card, but in India? Nothing. Zilch. My CIBIL score was basically “who dis?”
First three applications: instant rejection. One of them literally said “Insufficient credit history” like… yeah, no shit, Sherlock.
So I went down the rabbit hole and found the best credit cards for no credit history that actually have a decent shot at approving beginners like me.
Here are my top 7 picks (that I either got approved for or very nearly did).

1. SBI Unnati Credit Card – Literally Made for People Like Me
This was my first win. Secured against a fixed deposit, super easy approval even with zero credit history. I put in ₹25,000 FD, got a card with ₹25k–₹1 lakh limit depending on the FD. Annual fee is ₹499 + taxes but waived if you spend ₹50k/year (which is doable). Cashback on utility + telephone bills? Yes please.

2. Axis Bank Insta Easy Credit Card (Secured)
This one felt sketchy at first but it’s actually dope. 100% digital, super-fast approval, secured against FD. They literally approved me in like 15 minutes after I linked my account. No annual fee if you keep the FD active. Best part? It reports to CIBIL so it actually helps build credit.

3. IDFC FIRST WOW Credit Card
Okay this one is controversial in my head. They advertise “no credit history needed” and it’s mostly true. They look at your bank account behavior more than CIBIL. I got approved with a ₹25k limit even though my salary slips were… questionable. Lifetime free + 4× reward points on everything? Insane.

4. AU Bank LIT Credit Card (Secured Variant)
This one is sneaky good. Secured version has almost 100% approval rate for beginners. You can get metal variants later if you behave. Cashback on Amazon, Flipkart, utilities. I use mine mostly for Swiggy and Zomato and it slaps.

5. HDFC Bank Millennia Credit Card (Beginner-Friendly)
Not technically secured, but they approve people with thin credit files if your salary account is with them. I got this one after 6 months of using my secured card responsibly. 5% cashback on Amazon, Flipkart, BookMyShow, etc. Annual fee ₹1,000 but waived on ₹1 lakh spend.

6. ICICI Bank Coral Credit Card (Entry-Level)
They sometimes approve beginners if you have a good salary account or fixed deposit with them. I got rejected first, then opened an ICICI salary account and got approved second time. Annoying, but it worked. 1% fuel surcharge waiver + reward points.

7. Yes Bank ACE Credit Card
This one is my sleeper hit. They approved me with no credit history because I had a decent salary account with them. 5% cashback on utilities, 2% on everything else. Annual fee ₹499, waived on ₹50k spend.

My Hot Takes & Embarrassing Mistakes
- I applied to 5 cards in one week thinking “more applications = more chances.” Nope. Just tanked my inquiries. Don’t do that.
- I cried when I got my first approval email. Like actual tears. On the metro. People stared.
- Secured cards are not “fake.” They build real credit history. I went from 0 to 732 CIBIL in 14 months.
- Always pay the full statement balance. I once paid minimum and got hit with 3.5% interest. Never again.
Look… getting the best credit cards for no credit history is not glamorous. It’s humbling. It’s awkward. But it’s doable.
Start with a secured card. Use it responsibly. Pay on time. In a year you’ll be laughing at how stressed you were.
You got this.
Drop a comment if you’ve been approved for any of these (or got brutally rejected lol). I read every single one.
